I love the fall in the midwest, specifically southwest Missouri. The leaves turning colors, scarves, boots, pumpkin spice everything, frost on your windshield in the morning, crisp air, and fall candles.
Since moving to Florida a little over a year ago, I have experienced none of my former fall memories. Fall in Florida means hurricane season, 90 degree temperatures, allergies, shorts and sunscreen. Certainly no leave changes.
Those living “up north” want Florida weather when its gets cold. Those living in Florida want cooler temperatures when every day is ungodly hot. IT NEVER ENDS PEOPLE. Each day is a repeat of the next. To my fellow northern transplants in Florida, its a bit disorienting. The other day, I forgot it was October. I still feel like it should be July.
But with all things, there is always something to be grateful for. Even though right now I am having serious fall FOMO, I am grateful I am not getting up even earlier in the morning before work to scrape the frost off my windshield. Plus, I never really need to get my winter clothes out of storage.
